In what has become an annual recurring theme, the 2026 Masters purse is, once again, the biggest its ever been.
Given the super-sized purses now up for grabs on LIV and in each PGA Tour Signature Event, it’s hard to believe that just five years ago, in 2021, the Masters purse was set at $11.5 million. The next year, in 2022, the purse increased dramatically, to $15 million. Then, the 2023 Masters purse jumped yet again to a total of $18 million.
But it didn’t stop there. In 2024, an additional $2 million was added to the pot to reach an eye-popping total purse of $20 million. And last year, the bar went higher still, to an impressive $21 million.
So what happened to this year’s purse? You guessed it. It went up. Again. The 2026 Masters purse now totals $22.5 million, a $1.5 million increase from last year. (The Players championship remains the richest purse in golf at a total of $25 million.)
This year’s Masters champion will surpass the payout received by 2025 champion, Rory McIlroy, by $300,000, with a $4.5 million total payday. The runner-up will receive a cool $2.43 million, and third and fourth place will clear seven figures too, with a payout of $1.53 and $1.08 million, respectively.
Even the players who missed the cut (of which there were 37) receive a payout of $25,000 each (the same amount as last year, which was an increase of $15,000 from years past) — but that’s for the professionals only. So how much did the rest of the players in the field come away with this year? You can find a complete list of the 2026 Masters payouts for each player below.
