The action and excitement at the 2022 U.S. Open goes into overdrive on Saturday with the third round at The Country Club, where players who made the cut will fight for position and a chance to win on Sunday. Round 3 tee times will be determined once play ends and the cut is made Friday evening. Once they are released, they will be reproduced at the bottom of this post.
Predicting U.S. Open Round 3 tee times
We won’t know the exact starting times and pairings for Saturday’s third round at Brookline until the second round is over. But we can get a good idea of when the times will fall by looking to past tournaments.
The last U.S. Open to be played in the Eastern time zone was the 2020 U.S. Open at Winged Foot. That year, Troy Merritt and Robert MacIntyre occupied the first pairing in the third round, teeing off at 8:55 a.m. ET. The final pairing featured eventual winner Bryson DeChambeau and Patrick Reed, who hit their first drives at 2:25 p.m. ET.
Though the 2020 U.S. Open was played in September with less daylight hours than in June, a look back further shows that the time of year didn’t affect third-round tee times all that much. At the 2018 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills, the first player teed off at 9:07 a.m. ET, and the final pairing began at 3:10 p.m. ET.
Barring any major weather events which are not currently in the forecast, we can expect third-round tee times for The Country Club to fall into a similar window.
