DUBLIN, Ohio — Heading into the final day of the 2023 Memorial Tournament, golfers are set to add an additional element to their attire at Muirfield Village Golf Club.
Many golfers and Memorial Tournament attendees are set to don the color yellow, including ribbons on their hats, to participate in the PGA Tour and Children’s Miracle Network campaign to raise $100 million for CMN hospitals including Nationwide Children’s Hospital over the next five years to fund pediatric care for millions of children.
The “Play Yellow” theme, according to the Memorial Tournament website, is inspired by the yellow shirts Jack Nicklaus wore in the final round of tournaments. He wore yellow to honor Craig Smith, the son of a close friend that fought bone cancer and died at 13 in 1971.
He also won the 1986 Masters Tournament wearing a yellow shirt.
The “Play Yellow” campaign invites Memorial Tournament fans and players to do the following to help raise money for the CMN hospitals:
- Wear yellow for Sunday’s final round
- Purchase special AHEAD brand or Nicklaus merchandise in the golf shop.
Donate at concession stands or within the golf shop - All donations made during the Memorial will be distributes and assigned to multiple initiatives within Nationwide Children’s Hospital
