With less than 100 days until the field is finalized, the race for a spot in the 2024 Summer Olympics is heating up.
Le Golf National, the 2018 Ryder Cup venue and home of the DP World Tour’s Open de France since 1991, will play host to the men’s competition Aug. 1-4 and the women’s from Aug. 7-10. This summer will mark the third consecutive Olympic Games to include golf after its return to the schedule in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
Just 60 players will earn a spot based on the official International Golf Federation world ranking list as of June 17, 2024, and it’s important to remember the Olympic qualifying criteria is designed to ensure players from around the world are represented, even if that means a large portion of the field is ranked outside the top 200. (Currently, that’s 13 of the 60 players.)
The top 15 players in the world are eligible, with a limit of four players from any given country. The rest of the field will come straight from the rankings, with a maximum of two eligible players from each country that does not already have two or more players in the top 15. The host country, France, is ensured at least one spot, but two are currently qualified.
Here’s a look at who is currently in the field, as well as some notables on the outside looking in (OWGR in parentheses).
