What’s the best way to get Entourage star Jerry Ferrara to appear on your podcast? If you ask Subpar host Colt Knost, it’s a piece of cake: Just place a wager on the Dallas Cowboys.

Ferrara, a New York sports fanatic, apparently had a lot of faith in the Giants ahead of the Giants-Cowboys NFL season opener, and Dallas-diehard Knost recognized lucrative opportunity. So when the Cowboys won 40-0, a Ferrara guest appearance soon followed.

“I think I conceded the bet before halftime,” Ferrara joked. “I think I texted you like, what time we doin’ the pod?”

Phil Mickelson’s ‘Entourage’ cameo? Here’s how that happened

During his sit-down with Knost and Subpar co-host Drew Stoltz, Ferrara covered a number of topics: the future Ryder Cup at Bethpage, his favorite New York courses, and of course, his Entourage experience, which provided fodder for plenty of other golf stories, including when the show featured a cameo from none other than Phil Mickelson.

So who was the best golfer who ever appeared on Entourage, aside from the pros? Ferrara had an answer at the ready.

“Pains me to say, it’s Kevin Dillon,” he said. “One of the slowest backswings you’ll ever see — Google it out there if you’re at your computer — beautiful swing, legit single-digit handicap, one of the slowest backswings you’ll ever see. But the dude can move it. Hits a little baby draw.”

When Stoltz brought up a scene in the show where Dillon’s character breaks a club in frustration, Ferrara said he remembered the morning they shot it.

“He jokingly but serious came up to me as we’re walking to set, ‘Wait til you see this great acting performance to make it look like I suck at golf,’” Ferrara said. “He found it hard to suck at golf as an actor.”
