Billy Horschel sprinted to the 18th tee, trying desperately to tee off so he could finish his round before play was called for the day, but it did no good. The horn blew and Horschel, and dozens of others, will return to PGA National Resort in the morning.

The winner of the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches will be decided on Monday, as a 3 1/2-hour weather delay that took place earlier on Sunday prevented the tournament from finishing on time.

Play was suspended at 12:50 p.m., before the leaders had a chance to tee off, and resumed at 4:20 p.m. The final round will continue at 8 a.m. ET on Monday, which will be broadcast on Golf Channel and Peacock.

Austin Eckroat leads; he’s 15 under and seven holes into his final round. Eckroat shared the 54-hole lead with Shane Lowry and David Skinns. Lowry is 12 under, and Skinns is 11 under. Also in the mix is Jake Knapp, last week’s winner, who is 13 under and has three holes left to play.

Erik van Rooyen shot 63 on Sunday and, at 14 under, is the clubhouse leader.

Rory McIlroy closed with a 68, finishing the par-5 18th in the dark. The good news for McIlroy? He’s now free to play Monday’s exclusive Seminole Pro-Member.
