Try this setup trick to roll rock-solid putts every time

A great way to make sure every putt is struck solidly is to find your “core connection.”

Your ability to hit solid putts on your intended line will earn you both more one-putts and fewer three-putts. A great way to make sure every putt is struck solidly is to find your “core connection.” This is the part of your core where the putter shaft points when you’re at address. Controlling this connection gives you optimal control over the weight of your arms and the putterhead during your stroke.

Notice in the photo to the right how the shaft points toward my mid-core. That’s pretty standard, though some players will feel more control with the shaft pointed closer to their chest while others prefer it pointed toward their belt line.

Head to the practice green and experiment with different “connections” to find your ideal position. Once you do, get the length and lie angle of your putter adjusted to match your new setup. It’s a simple way to take control of your putting motion, to say nothing of your speed control.
