Last week at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, Tony Finau took home his second win in just as many weeks on the PGA Tour and we were on-site getting the inside scoop on gear news. Although Tony’s clubs stayed the same as the previous week, we did spy something new in one of the equipment vans that we are excited to share exclusively at GOLF.com.
Graphite Design debuted an all-new shaft called the Tour AD CQ which, from initial conversations, leads us to believe it’s a higher launching, lower spinning shaft intended to take advantage of an extremely stable butt section with a softer mid-profile.
The only club we saw this in for testing was a fairway wood, so it’s likely that the Tour AD CQ was initially designed with fairway woods in mind — CQ-8 denotes an 80-gram shaft — but based on conversations, the new CQ will be offered in a variety of weights and flexes like all the other shafts in the full Graphite Design portfolio.
We don’t have an official release date, or specs available at this time but will update as more information becomes available.
