Phil Mickelson will emerge from his self-isolation and compete in this week’s LIV Golf Invitational Series event in London, the organization revealed on Monday.
Mickelson hasn’t played an event since the Asian Tour’s Saudi International in early February. Soon after the event, he was quoted in a Fire Pit Collective story with disparaging comments towards both the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, which is backed by the Saudis.
Mickelson did not compete in the Masters, which is has won three times, or the PGA Championship, of which he was the defending champion.
The field for the first LIV Golf Invitational event was revealed last week. It included 42 players, most notably Dustin Johnson. Five more players qualified via last week’s Asian Tour event and one spot remained, apparently for Mickelson.
