Nike’s new Air Jordan 1 Low G golf shoe is available on the company’s website starting at 10 a.m. ET on Thursday but if the in-store shopping frenzy over the shoe in Korea is any indication, these shoes are going to be a hot item.
According to a story on Korea Times, fans of the footwear camped out in tents hours before the Shinsegae Department Store opened, then went on a foot race to grab the gear once the doors opened.
The report says about 30 stores in Korea stocked the shoes. Shinsegae had about 100 pairs priced at 179,000 won, which is about $150. They are listed at $140 on the Nike website.
Nike’s online description:
With Air in the heel, a Jumpman on the insole and an integrated traction pattern, it recreates the look of the low-cut original—but gives you everything you need to play 18 holes in comfort.
Expect a steep markup on the secondary market. The Korea Times reports that three hours after the Jordan 1 Low Gs were snatched up in stores, more than 200 pairs were sold on Kream, the biggest online resale platform in the country. The prices averaged $530, with one buyer paying about $670.
