Winning team: Arizona State
Advancing teams: 1. Arizona State, 2. Stanford, 3. BYU, 4. Oregon, 5. Liberty
Individual winner: Carson Lundell, BYU
Advancing individual: RJ Manke, Washington
Star performance: Arizona State has played this season like it’s got something to prove. One of the top squads in the nation, the Sun Devils will be a favorite near home at Grayhawk, and have the fire power to really light it up at the national championship. Four players finished inside the top 10 on the individual leaderboard, with two others further down who more than capable of contributing in James Leow and David Puig, who shot rounds of 69-67 after subbing in for Leow (a player of the week earlier this year).
Keep an eye on: BYU. The Cougars were the No. 8 seed in the region but rode medalist Carson Lundell and David Timmins (fourth place) to a surprising third place finish, just one shot behind Stanford. They’ll need another player or two to step up if they are to make match play at the NCAAs, but anything can happen from there. Lundell is the type of player than can carry a team, but it remains to be seen just how far.
