Matt Kuchar among sleeper picks for the 2022 AT&T Byron Nelson

We’re just days away from the start of the PGA Championship, the year’s second major, but there’s business to take care of first outside Dallas, Texas. The PGA Tour is headed to TPC Craig Ranch for the AT&T Byron Nelson, just the second time the course will host the event.

Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 ranked player in the world, didn’t have to travel far this week and will make his first solo start since winning the Masters (tied for 18th with Ryan Palmer at the Zurich Classic).

Big names in the field include Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson, Xander Schauffele, Will Zalatoris, Jordan Spieth, and Brooks Koepka.

However, there are several other names to keep an eye on this week at TPC Craig Ranch.

2021 AT&T Byron Nelson finish: T-9

Notes: At an event where the winning score will be in the ballpark of 20 under, Vegas ranks 21st on Tour this season in scoring average. Strokes Gained: Approach is a key stat at Craig Ranch and Vegas ranks 21st in that category this season.

2021 AT&T Byron Nelson finish: T-55

Last four PGA Tour starts: T-33 (Valspar), Cut (Valero), T-26 (RBC Heritage), and Cut (Zurich)

2021 AT&T Byron Nelson finish: T-3

Notes: The missed cut at the Zurich shouldn’t deter you from Kizzire — team event, different format, etc. Going back a few more starts, he tied for 32nd at the Arnold Palmer and 22nd at TPC Sawgrass. He’s been playing good golf this season and his performance at this track last year should instill confidence for an outright sprinkle or top-30 bet.
