DUBLIN, Ohio — Ahead of the 2024 Memorial Tournament, the Captains Club announced it has selected seven-time major champion and World Golf Hall of Fame member Juli Inkster as the Honoree for the 49th Memorial.
Tom Weiskopf, an Ohio native, 16-time PGA Tour winner and 1973 Open champion, will be honored posthumously at the Honoree Ceremony on the Wednesday of tournament week at Muirfield Village Golf Club.
Weiskopf and Inskter are the 82nd and 83rds recipients of the Honoree title.
“I am so pleased that the Captains Club has chosen to honor Juli and Tom, two wonderful players who were fine amateurs and went on to impressive professional careers,” Jack Nicklaus, the founder and host of the Memorial Tournament said in a statement. “Each has made meaningful contributions to the game, and I could not be more delighted to see them recognized next year at Muirfield Village Golf Club.
Inkster was a four-year American at San Jose State before 31 LPGA Tour victories and four LPGA Legends tour wins. She was a World Golf Hall of Fame inductee in 2000.
Weiskopf was a 16-time PGA Tour winner, winning the 1973 Open at Royal Troon. He finished tied for second five times in a major along with three third-place finishes.
Weiskopf was also a course designer and was responsible for the stadium course at TPC Scottsdale, home of the WM Phoenix Open, and the Double Eagle Club in Galena.
Weiskopf died in 2022 at 79 after a bout with pancreatic cancer.
