You might rush to the tee chomping on a bagel with three minutes to spare and without any time to hit range balls. As for pros, not so much. Here’s how Justin Thomas spent his warm-up during a tournament round in February. Take notes, as there’s plenty we can learn from how pros practice.

Justin Thomas’ warm-up

When: Feb. 10, 2022
Where: WM Phoenix Open

11 a.m. JT arrives on the putting green. Applies sunscreen. Rolls six-footers on a putting mirror, then moves on to a trio of putting-gate drills. 

11:10 a.m. Hits a few long lags across the green, then three random 15-footers followed by a couple 30-footers.

11:19 a.m. Heads to short-game area. Hits 35-yard pitches, then switches to a 20-yard target, then 15 yards and finally tests a few hop-and-stops. 

11:25 a.m. Hits a few from the greenside bunker. 

11:29 a.m. Heads to the range. Sets up TrackMan and starts hitting easy wedges, working his way up to full swings. 

11:59 a.m. Range time is over. Heads back to putting green, phone in hand. 

12:01 p.m. Putts to random holes, chats with Rickie Fowler. 

12:03 p.m. Heads to first tee for 12:13 p.m. tee time. Upon arrival is greeted by a two-group backup. Woof.
