Career grand slam primer: Which active golfers have a shot?

Only five men’s golfers have ever completed the modern grand slam, but there are a handful of active golfers who still have a chance.

Every week is important in pro golf, but four weeks of the year stand out among the rest. The Masters, PGA Championship, U.S. Open and Open Championship are the four majors of the modern era in men’s golf, and every pro golfer aspires to win them.

But while there are four opportunities each year to win these coveted titles, only five men have ever won all four in their career. Among the thousands of pros who’ve ever teed it up in men’s competitive golf, Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods are the only ones who have completed the career grand slam.

That’s not to say there won’t be more men who add their name to that illustrious list, though. In fact, just this week, Jordan Spieth (assuming he tees it up) will have the opportunity to complete the career grand slam at Oak Hill Country Club.

Check out below for a list of active players who can still (theoretically) complete the career grand slam.

Only players who have won two (or more) different majors are listed.
