Some companies develop reputations for being especially skilled in one product category, and throughout the early and mid-2000s, Adams Golf was known for making excellent hybrids. Numerous pros on the PGA Tour and Champions Tour used them, and recreational golfers liked them, too. While the updated Tight Lies hybrids likely won’t find their way into many pros’ bags, they are designed to replace long irons and help players gain consistency.
As with the Tight Lies fairway woods, the hybrids were designed with Extended Face to help maintain a low, easy-to-hit profile while expanding the hitting area. They also have a Velocity Slot in the sole behind the leading edge. The slot and channel effectively separate the bottom of the face and the club’s sole, so when golfers hit shots lower in the face, the bottom of the hitting area can flex more efficiently and produce more ball speed. The slot is covered by a polymer to keep dirt and water out of the head, and along with the Tri-Sole design and the smoothed back edge of the channel, the Tight Lies hybrids should skim across grass and sand.
