AUGUSTA, Ga. — The Masters purse is getting a boost. Augusta National released the 2024 Masters prize money breakdown on Saturday, with the total purse increasing to $20 million. Last year, the purse was $18 million, which was already a big jump from the previous year ($15 million).

The winner of this year’s Masters will receive $3.6 million — Jon Rahm won $3.2 million last year — with the runner-up taking home $2.16 million and 3rd earning $1.36 million.

For years, the majors were the biggest paydays in pro golf (along with the Players Championship, the marquee event on the PGA Tour), but the PGA Tour/LIV Golf divide has played a big role in increasing purses across the sport.

The Masters’ purse increase means it’s now equal to the total purses offered at LIV Golf events (those are $25 million, but $20 million for the individual portion), and the PGA Tour’s Signature Events, which are also $20 million.

Last month’s Players Championship had a $25 million purse, and Scottie Scheffler earned $4.5 million for his win.

It’s unclear how much will be up for grabs at the three remaining men’s majors of 2024. Last year, the U.S. Open purse was $20 million, the PGA Championship $17.5 million and the Open Championship $16.5 million.

The complete payout breakdown for the 2024 Masters is below. The remaining professionals beyond 50th place who made the cut will receive payouts ranging downward from $49,200 depending on finishing position. The pros who miss the cut receive $10,000 each.
