Of all the golf apparel out there, there is one item that is a true staple of every player’s wardrobe: the polo.

While variations on the classic silhouette abound when it comes to the look of the collar or style of the placket, the golf polo is ubiquitous, and beloved for its versatility. Even non-golfers own them, because they elevate a casual outfit to going-out-to-dinner standards, and they’re comfy, too.

Adidas Tour Primeknit Polo. I’m often suspicious of dark-colored polos, for fear of them getting overheated in the sun. But the tech in these shirts make them the most breathable thing I’ve got. —Sean Zak

A&F’s short-sleeve polo in lightweight performance fabric is breathable and super soft, with 4-way stretch, UV protection and moisture-wicking properties.


Circuit Performance Players Shirt. A friend doled these out on a buddies’ trip earlier this year, and I became an immediate convert. It’s soft and stretchy but also holds it up shape, and I’m a big fan of the throwback pocket on the chest. My fave feature: slots for collar stays. Nothing worse than collar flop. —Alan Bastable

Radmor. I haven’t found a golf shirt I like better than the ones made by my neighbors in Seattle.
