Collin Morikawa WDs from 2023 Memorial Tournament about 15 minutes before his final-round tee time

DUBLIN, Ohio — Collin Morikawa, who finished the third round of the 2023 Memorial Tournament tied for ninth and two shots behind the leaders, has withdrawn from the tournament because of back spasms.

It’s the first time Morikawam, 26, has withdrawn from a PGA Tour event. His withdrawal was announced shortly before his 12:55 p.m. ET tee time. He was seen on Golf Channel’s coverage warming up on the range before walking to the parking lot.

He was paired with Keegan Bradley on Sunday, who will now play alone.

Morikawa has a strong history at Muirfield Village. He won the Workday Charity Open held at the course in the COVID-affected 2020 season and finished tied for second in the Memorial in 2021.

Morikawa is a two-time major champion. He won the PGA Championship in 2020 and the British Open in 2021.
