Previewing Genesis Invitational Round 2

On Thursday morning at Riviera, one group dominated the top of the leaderboard. But the time the sun started to set in California, it was Joaquin Niemann sitting in first place. The Chilean pro fired an eight-under 63 in the opening round to give himself a three-shot lead heading into Round 2.

Among four players tied for second at five under are playing partners Jordan Spieth and Scottie Scheffler, who captured his first PGA Tour title last week at the WM Phoenix Open. Max Homa, the defending champion, also went five under in the opening round.

Plenty of other top-ranked stars are within striking distance of the lead, like major champions Collin Morikawa and Justin Thomas, who sit among a large group at four under, setting up an exciting round on Friday. You can stream the entire second round via PGA Tour Live on ESPN+, or watch the telecast on Golf Channel.
