The 2022 American Express begins on Thursday in California with two of the top-ranked PGA Tour players in the mix. Here’s what you need to know to watch the first round on TV or online.

Previewing American Express Round 1

The American Express may be the second full-field PGA Tour event of the year, but the field is much stronger than we saw last week at the Sony Open in Hawaii. The two players who will command most of the spotlight to start on Thursday are World No. 1 Jon Rahm and World No. 4 Patrick Cantlay.

The reigning U.S. Open and Fedex Cup champions, respectively, have duked it out on a number of occasions recently, including at the Tour Championship and Ryder Cup. Rahm hopes to win and pad his ranking cushion, while Cantlay is trying to take another step toward unseating Rahm and taking the crown for himself.
