Welcome to another edition of the Hot Mic, GOLF’s weekly media column dedicated to the people (and stories) behind the action you watch each week.
Some of us have faces for radio, others, like David Feherty, were simply born to be heard.
The famed NBC Golf analyst and beloved jokester is returning to audio, starring in a new SiriusXM show “Feherty and Maginnes” alongside former PGA Tour pro and current SiriusXM analyst (and other half of the show’s namesake) John Maginnes. The show, which will air weekly on Mondays at 7 p.m. ET, aims to “entertain listeners with great storytelling, longform interviews, and unfiltered commentary on news from around the sport,” according to a release distributed by SiriusXM announcing the show Monday.
“David’s unique blend of wit and golf wisdom, and his experience from a lifetime in the game, really make him one of a kind,” Scott Greenstein, SiriusXM’s president and chief content officer said in a release. “SiriusXM is the perfect platform for his many great stories and the insightful and revealing conversations he’ll have with his guests. We are thrilled to pair him up with John and bring together two terrific personalities who will deliver an entertaining, must-listen show for our listeners.”
“Feherty and Maginnes” will be available to subscribers on the SiriusXM PGA Tour radio channel and on the SXM app. The show will debut with a special preview episode tomorrow, Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. prior to settling into its official schedule beginning in the new year.
“I can’t wait to work with John Maginnes,” Feherty said in a statement. “He is one of my favorite people and SiriusXM will be a really fun platform for us. The over/under on both of us getting canceled is about six weeks!”
The show marks the newest venture for Feherty, who will remain in his role at NBC. It also marks his first venture outside of linear television since NBC announced it canceled the idiosyncratic talk show “Feherty” earlier this year.
