Editor’s picks: A handy divot tool with 6 practical uses

As a superstitious golfer, I’m always changing things up after bad holes or bad rounds. I’ll sometimes switch golf balls but will mostly shuffle my ball markers and divot tools. I always keep a few of each with me — easy to lend to forgetful playing partners for the day, too — and one divot tool recently made its way into my rotation.

It’s the Birdicorn divot tool, which is essentially six tools in one, all of which are useful for golfers. First, the more common uses — it fixes your ball marks on the greens and the coin that comes with it obviously marks your golf ball. (It’s magnetic, so you can also sub in your own favorite ball mark too.)

But there’s more. It has a handy slit down the middle so you can draw the perfect alignment line on your golf ball, and you can also set the tool flat on a practice putting green — like this — and use the slit as an alignment aid to dial in your stroke. The tool has a depression on top so you can safely rest your grips from getting wet, and it even has a bottle opener for when you need to wash away those bogeys with a beverage.

It’s lightweight and comes in 11 colors. I bought my own a handful of months ago — I went with the graphite color — but we recently started selling them in GOLF’s Pro Shop too. Check them out below, and browse more golf accessories in our Pro Shop here.
