This week’s BMW Championship is the second-to-last event of the 2026 FedEx Cup playoffs, but it’s the final event to determine the season-long race for FedEx Cup bonuses.
As part of rule changes made over last two seasons, the PGA Tour has decided to pay out the biggest FedEx Cup bonuses after the BMW Championship and before the season-ending Tour Championship.
And the payouts that will be distributed on Sunday are massive.
Here’s what you should know.
Changes to FedEx Cup bonuses and Tour Championship
The 2026 Tour Championship will still determine this year’s FedEx Cup champion, and the player who ends up on top at East Lake will earn $10 million.
But the biggest FedEx Cup bonuses based on the season-long standings will be determined after the BMW’s final round. The total amount to be dished out after the second playoff event is staggering: nearly $100 million.
The first-place FedEx Cup bonus is a whopping $23 million. But the race for that top prize is already over. After leading the FedEx Cup standings all season long, Scottie Scheffler locked up the $23 million grand prize with his win at last week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship.
So while no one can get past Scheffler this week, the rest of the payouts will be impacted by players’ performances at the BMW Championship.
The difference between second place ($13 million total) and 10th ($1.31 million), for example, is more than $11.6 million.
