Perhaps one of the surest signs of having your life put together is having a tidy and well-organized car trunk — or frunk in this world of EVs.
As a golfer, that can be challenging with your clubs, multiple pairs of shoes, towels, golf balls, training aids and other miscellaneous items jammed in the back of your car.
Despite having a relatively small trunk in my small SUV, I’ve always taken great pride in keeping things neat so I can easily access what I need. As a high school golf coach, I also felt it set a good example for the students on my team.
But recently, one major change to my golf life — the addition of a power trolley to my gear arsenal — has thrown my once-tranquil trunk into chaos.

Why I needed the Trunk Caddie

As someone who doesn’t prefer to drive a boat, maximizing my trunk space is important, especially given my role testing different golf clubs, bags, shoes and what not. Until GOLF builds me a golf course at my house, all of that stuff ends up in my trunk at some point.
At first glance, the Trunk Caddie seems unimposing. When buttoned up, it doesn’t take up much more space than a typical tote bag, but the snap enclosures unlock to show a storage organizer with two compartments, each big enough for three pairs of my size-11 shoes.
Are two compartments really enough to make a difference? For me, absolutely.
I rotate four pairs of shoes, which I used to line up against the rear seats of my car with little issue. But once I got the power trolley, which now occupies the back-left corner of my trunk when not in use, mayhem ensued. My home course doesn’t store push carts and power trollies, and while the one I have — and plan to review in the next few weeks — folds up as well as any, I basically lost most the space for shoes, gloves, golf balls and other items I kept in my car.
I tried stacking my shoes on top of one another, but that just lead to things moving around as I drove. You know how they warn you to be careful opening overhead bins on planes because your bags move around during the flight? That became my trunk.

Initially, I was worried the Trunk Caddie wouldn’t fit in the back of my car, along with the folded up power trolley, but since the Trunk Caddie is soft, it can squeeze in small spaces easily.
The biggest thing for me is that it allows me to stack my shoes in the caddie vertically, with enough room left over to toss the old golf ball shipping box where I store balls, gloves, torque wrenches and other loose items. A bonus is the side pockets of the Trunk Caddie let me throw my rain gear in the side, and protect it from tears while other things are going in and out.
With those items out of the way, and contained, the only thing I have to do is lift the front of the power trolley up and tuck my golf bag underneath. It’s also much easier to clear out my trunk as I can just take out the Caddie to put away.
Bottom Line
The Jones Trunk Caddie is a must-have for golfers who like to have things stored neatly in their car and at-the-ready for the course. Just a friendly reminder, it’s still not a good idea to leave your clubs in your car all the time.
