3 things to know from Friday’s second round at the Evian Championship

Lee6 hit 10 of 13 fairways and 15 greens on the day, and she only needed 23 putts to card her 10 birdies. She is seeking her first win since her triumph at the U.S. Women’s Open in 2019.

2. Nelly bounces back

World No. 1 Nelly Korda struggled to find her game in Round 1, but her second round was a different story as she shot a four-under 67 to get to one under for the championship. Her round also keeps her from missing the cut at her first major since ascending to No. 1 in the world last month.

Korda carded five birdies on the day against just one bogey as she got to one under for the championship. She is currently 14 shots back of the lead, so a historic weekend would be needed to win back-to-back majors. However, a high finish is not out of the question. Korda is only six shots back of the top 10.

3. Stars headed home

With 36 holes complete, the cut has been made, and the Evian will be without some of the game’s brightest stars. The cut came at even par.

A host of major winners were trunk slamming on Friday, including Angela Stanford, Pernilla Lindberg, A Lim Kim, Mirim Lee and Brittany Lincicome. Veterans such as Natalie Gulbis and Paula Creamer will miss the weekend as well.
