The final round of the Valero Texas Open promises drama in more ways than one. Not only will a champion be crowned on Sunday afternoon, but that player may also punch his ticket through the hallowed gates of Magnolia Lane.

One potential spot remains in the Masters field for a player who is not otherwise exempt, and 22-year-old Akshay Bhatia (-15) is hoping this is his time.

With a four-shot lead heading into the final round, Bhatia’s prospects look pretty good. But he’ll have to keep the pedal to the metal to stave off potential charges from his chasers, like Denny McCarthy (-11), Brendon Todd (-8) and Hideki Matsuyama (-7).

In addition to a potential major berth, there’s also plenty of dough up for grabs this week. A $9.2 million purse offers a seven-figure payout to both the winner and runner-up, with six-figure payouts trickling all the way down to 22nd place.

Who will come away with the title? That remains unknown, but one thing’s for sure: It’s a good week to be in the hunt!
