Stephan Jaeger, the Farmers Insurance Open’s third-round leader, is surely looking forward to what could be a career-defining day on Saturday: the 34-year-old is currently on track to cash the biggest single check of his career. This week, the Farmers Insurance Open purse awards $1.62 million to the winner — a tidy haul indeed!

It’s tempting to think that Jaeger’s six Korn Ferry Tour victories will give him some confidence when it comes to closing the deal, but with only a one-shot advantage over the field, it won’t be easy. There are 26 players within five shots of Jaeger’s lead, including big names like Tony Finau, Xander Schauffele and young gun Ludvig Aberg.

“It’s great to have some past success, but you really — that doesn’t really get you anything,” Jaeger said after his third-round 73. “I’m going to feel it tomorrow, I’m going to be nervous.”

The good news from a purse perspective? The top 22 players this week will all clear six figures, thanks to a $9 million total purse.

Jaeger will play in Saturday afternoon’s final grouping alongside Matthieu Pavon and Nicolai Hojgaard at 2:10 p.m. ET.
