2023 Shriners Children’s Open odds, course history and picks to win

The PGA Tour is back in Las Vegas this week for the 2023 Shriners Children’s Open at TPC Summerlin.

The defending champion Tom Kim returns to Sin City hoping to go back-to-back. Since finishing tied for 20th at the Tour Championship, Kim has finished T-18 at the BMW PGA Championship and T-6 at the French Open on the DP World Tour.

He’s joined in the field by European Ryder Cupper Ludvig Aberg — T-2 at the Sanderson Farms Championship last week — Si Woo Kim, Cam Davis, J.T. Poston and Chicken Open winner Luke List.

This week’s winner will earn $1.512 million and 500 FedEx Cup points.

2023 Sanderson Farms Championship

Exhaustion might be a problem for Aberg this week, but you can’t argue with how he’s been playing. Since winning the DP World Tour’s European Masters, Aberg has finished T-10 at the BMW PGA Championship and T-2 at the Sanderson Farms Championship. Throw in an appearance at the Ryder Cup and there hasn’t been much downtime for the Swede, but I still like his chances in Vegas.

This week will be a birdie barrage on a short golf course, so why not take one of the best iron players in the world?

Hoge has finished T-14 at the BMW PGA Championship and T-13 at the Sanderson Farms Championship in his last two starts.

The TCU product has seen his share of success at TPC Summerlin over his last five appearances: 4th (2022), 14th (2021), 24th (2020), MC (2018) and 7th (2017).

After finishing T-30 at the Fortinet Championship in September, Thompson returned to action last week at the Sanderson Farms Championship and eventually tied for 16th.

Last year, Thompson tied for 12th at TPC Summerlin.

It’d be tough to name a player who’s played better at TPC Summerlin over the last few years than NeSmith.

He finished T-2 last year, T-14 in 2021, T-8 in 2020 and T-18 in 2019. Plus, he tied for 25th last week at the Sanderson Farms Championship.
