The week after the Masters is usually a letdown, but thanks to the new designated events on the PGA Tour, the RBC Heritage field is loaded.
World No. 1 and Augusta National champion Jon Rahm leads the way in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, as he’s joined by Scottie Scheffler, Patrick Cantlay, last year’s RBC Heritage winner Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa.
Rory McIlroy, who disappointedly missed the cut last week in Georgia, withdrew from the event Monday. In one start at Harbour Town Golf Links, McIlroy finished T-41. Will Zalatoris, who was originally in the field, had season-ending back surgery after withdrawing from the Masters. Jason Day withdrew Sunday after finishing the year’s first major with an 80.

The Irishman is coming off a top-20 finish at the Masters and has fantastic course history in Hilton Head.
Before finishing third last season, Lowry grabbed ninth in 2021 and third in 2019.
On a golf course where you have to play from the short grass, Lowry is seventh in driving accuracy on Tour this season (67.86 percent).
Since missing the weekend at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Morikawa has tied for 13th at the Players Championship and 10th at the Masters in two stroke-play event starts.
Morikawa finished 26th at last season’s RBC Heritage but grabbed a top 10 in 2021 (seventh).
After coming close at the Sentry Tournament of Champions and the Farmers Insurance Open, a win for Morikawa is coming sometime this season. Harbour Town is a great course fit for the Cal product so don’t be surprised if it comes on Sunday.
After missing the weekend in Hilton Head in 2021, Fleetwood finished 10th last year.
Before a 33rd-place finish at the Masters, Fleetwood tied for third at the Valspar Championship in his last stroke-play event start.
He’s still looking for his first win on Tour but could get the job done this week.
Young now has Paul Tesori on the bag after he split with Webb Simpson. Why is that important this week? Because in 13 starts at Harbour Town, Simpson finished inside the top 25 eight times, including four top 10s and a win.
If anyone knows how to get around this track successfully, it’s Tesori.
Last season, Young tied for third in Hilton Head.
