Major number two of the 2023 season is on deck as the best golfers in the world head to Oak Hill for the PGA Championship.
Since its move to May, the PGA Championship is the first full-field major Championship, its 156 golfers nearly doubling the 88-player, limited-field Masters.
The PGA, unlike the U.S. Open and Open Championship, does not have amateurs in the field, nor is there open qualifying. The PGA of America uses 13 qualification criteria, as well as special invitations to fill out the field. Typically, all golfers in the top 100 in the world make the field. However, 20 PGA of America professionals are in the field this week after qualifying through the PGA Professional Championship.
Back in the field this year, after missing his title defense last year, is Phil Mickelson. Mickelson will join 16 other LIV Golf pros in the field. There were 18 LIV Golfers in the field at the Masters, where three of the top six finishers came from the rivals, including Mickelson as co-runner-up with Brooks Koepka.
Absent from the field is Tiger Woods, who played last year at Southern Hills and last month at the Masters, while he recovers from ankle surgery.
You can find the full list of participants below as well as the list of qualification criteria.
