Previewing WM Phoenix Open Round 1

Jon Rahm is still feeling comfortable with his position at the top of the Official World Golf Ranking, and his game has looked sharp so far in 2022. But if the World No. 1 wants to remain No. 1, he’s going to have to capture another win soon. And this week at the Phoenix Open is as good an opportunity as any.

Through three starts in the new year, Rahm already has two top-3 finishes: a T3 at the Farmers Insurance Open and a runner-up finish at the Tournament of Champions. He will try to take the next step on Thursday at TPC Scottsdale, where he finished T13 last year.

For Thursday’s opening round, Rahm will tee off at 2:24 p.m. ET (12:24 p.m. local time) alongside Webb Simpson and Rickie Fowler. You can stream extensive coverage of Round 1 via PGA Tour Live on ESPN+.
