After his win in Canada, Rory McIlroy enters the week as the betting favorite at +900. The Northern Irishman’s U.S. Open win came in 2011 when he won by eight shots at Congressional.

He missed the cut at the Charles Schwab Challenge a week after losing to Thomas in a playoff at the PGA Championship, but tied for 5th at the Memorial in his last start.

There’s no one on Earth playing better golf than this man. Since missing the cut at the Valero Texas Open, he’s finished: 2nd (Masters), 5th, 8th (PGA), T-18, and 1st.
After missing three straight cuts at the U.S. Open from 2016-18, McIlroy has grabbed three straight top 10s (T-7 last season at Torrey Pines).

Lowry, like McIlroy, has played great golf of late. After a stretch of three straight T-3 finishes in April, Lowry cashed in a T-10 at the RBC Canadian Open this past weekend.
Lowry’s made six cuts in his last seven appearances at the U.S. Open, with his best finish coming at Oakmont in 2016 (T-2).

Most of the field has never played a competitive round at The Country Club. Fitzy has. He won the 2013 U.S. Amateur in Brookline, so he should be feeling some good vibes being back in the northeast.
In his last four starts, the Englishman has finished inside the top 10 three times, the top 5 twice, and was one of the runner-ups at the Wells Fargo.

Many people may stay away from the 25-year-old because of his final result at the Memorial (T-60), but I’m not too concerned about it. Young was comfortable inside the top 20 entering the final round, but a Sunday 84 sent him tumbling down the board.
In his three starts before Jack’s place, Young put together three straight top 3s.
