The 2022 Sony Open in Hawaii, the first full-field PGA Tour event of the new year, begins on Thursday, January 13, at Waialae Country Club. Here’s everything you need to know to watch the tournament.

Sony Open preview

If you’re a professional golfer, you couldn’t ask for a better start to the new year than the one Cameron Smith is having. The 28-year-old Australian pro broke all kinds of records last week at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, riding a PGA Tour record 34-under-par total to victory over Jon Rahm.

It was the fourth Tour win of the rising star’s career, and now he’s ready to go for No. 5 this week at the Sony. But Smith will face tough competition to get it done, including Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama and defending champion Kevin Na, owner of five Tour victories.

Fans will be treated to wall-to-wall coverage of this year’s Sony, with Golf Channel providing the TV coverage and PGA Tour Live on ESPN+ commanding the streaming coverage.
