Previewing Farmers Insurance Open Round 1

World No. 1 Jon Rahm hasn’t won yet in 2022, but he’s been a fixture among the contenders in the two events he’s played so far, resulting in a second-place finish at the Tournament of Champions and a T14 last week at the American Express. Now Rahm returns to Torrey Pines and the Farmers Insurance Open, the site of his first-career PGA Tour victory, to try and enter the winner’s circle once more.

To do so, he’ll have to fight off a host of top pros comprising the strongest field of the season so far. Those stars include the likes of Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Xander Schauffele and defending champion Patrick Reed. Reed is still fielding questions about his controversial embedded relief from last year’s event as he attempts the repeat.

Rahm will get his opening round started at 1:40 p.m. ET alongside Johnson and Thomas. You can watch Wednesday’s entire round online via PGA Tour Live on ESPN+.
