We’ve reached the final round of the BMW Championship and the midway point of the three-week FedEx Cup Playoffs. Below, find everything you need to know about tournament money for the second event of the Playoffs’ $75 million prize fund.
FedEx St. Jude Championship final round preview
In addition to a $15 million purse, players are jockeying to get into the top-30 of the FedEx Cup standings and earn a trip to East Lake and next week’s Tour Championship. The BMW is also the last opportunity for players to earn Presidents Cup points and make the top-6 (for the Americans) or top-8 (for the internationals) to earn automatic berths on the respective teams.
Defending champion Patrick Cantlay is the 54-hole leader at 12-under. Cantlay prevailed in a six-hole playoff last year against Bryson DeChambeau at Caves Valley, near Baltimore. But before the championship this week, Cantlay was critical of the course style at this week’s event at Wilmington Country Club, and the PGA Tour’s strategy of selecting courses that favor long hitters.
One shot back at 11-under is Cantlay’s good friend and teammate for their win earlier this season at the Zurich Classic, Xander Schauffele. Schauffele vaulted up the leaderboard on moving day thanks to a 5-under 66. Joining Schauffele at 11-under after also shooting 66 on Saturday is Scott Stallings.
One shot further back at 10-under is Scottie Scheffler, who looks poised to regain the top spot in the FedEx Cup standings heading to East Lake, which would give him a two-shot lead to start the tournament. Also at 10-under is 36-hole leader Adam Scott, who needs a solid finish to get back to the Tour Championship for the first time since 2019.
Below, find everything you need to know about that money, including payout information and winner’s share; you can catch the action from 12-2 p.m. ET on Golf Channel, and from 2 p.m. until the completion of play on NBC (except in the Philadelphia market where coverage will be picked up at 4 p.m. due to preseason football).
